Fuel Duty Rates

Date: 1 December 2008

HMRC notice PBRN19 specifies the various fuel duty rates to apply from 1st December 2008 and 1st April 2009

The fuel duty increases for petrol, diesel and LPG are exactly the same amounts as announced in previous Budgets. Effectively the rate increase due on 1st April 2008 is now taking effect on 1st December and the increase due on 1st April 2009 has been re-affirmed.

On 1st December duty on petrol/diesel will go up by 2p per litre and on LPG by the equivalent of 2.14p per litre

On 1st April 2009 duty on petrol/diesel will go up by 1.84p per litre and on LPG by the equivalent of 2.025p per litre

This means that our differential with petrol / diesel is only marginally reduced and well within the maximum 1p per litre per year advised in Budget speeches.

Driving an LPG vehicle is safe, easy and, best of all, much cheaper than petrol.
